In May 2024, three generations of women in my family – my mother, my daughter, and myself – embarked on a transformative journey to Uganda, joining hands with the Precious Kids Foundation (PKF) on a medical mission trip that would forever change our lives. It all began in November 2023 when I met “Precious” Proscovia Namazzi, the founder of PKF and a native Ugandan. As she shared her story and her unwavering commitment to uplifting Uganda’s most vulnerable children, I felt an instant connection to her cause. At that moment, I knew I had to be a part of their next mission.

But our journey didn’t end there. We had the privilege of meeting some of the children sponsored by PKF for education, as well as some of their parents. The foundation’s approach is one of empowerment and unity, striving to keep children with their families whenever possible while providing them with the tools they need to build a brighter future. When circumstances necessitate, PKF provides children with the opportunity to attend boarding school, ensuring that their education remains a top priority. The gratitude and hope in these children’s eyes spoke volumes about the impact of PKF’s work. For just $100 per month, a child’s life can be transformed through education, nutrition, medical care, and the unwavering support of the PKF community.

What struck me most was the fact that this entire medical camp, which touched so many lives, cost only $37,000 – just $7.87 per person. It’s a stark reminder of how much we can accomplish when we come together with a shared purpose and a compassionate heart.
