FAQ

Moon Chat Membership

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes, just go to the My Subscription tab in your membership portal. Your membership will continue on uninterrupted until the last day of your current membership – either monthly or annually.

Can I change my payment plan?
Yes, at any time you can change from monthly to annual or from annual to monthly. If you’ve paid for annual, you won’t switch to monthly until that year is up. And if you’ve been paying monthly, the annual payment will be processed when your next monthly payment is due after you make the change.
What’s the difference between becoming a Moon Chat Member and just following along with my Moon Chat Map?

With both you can watch along with the YouTube videos and/or listen to the Podcasts. The main benefits to becoming a Moon Chat Member are

  • Custom Messages – you don’t need to consult your map, we automatically do that for you and send you a custom email with the house being activated
  • Straight forward messages – on top of telling you which house, the email also references the phase we’re in, the dates around the entire Moon Family and exactly what action to take and when
  • we make it a 2-Way Conversation – you reply to the emails sent to you with your intentions/what you did/noticed and when the next phase in that Moon Family comes along we send that history back to you, so you don’t need to keep track of everything! Moon Chat really makes working with the phases as effortless as possible.
  • Video Tutorials are included with your membership that provide great guidance on how to work with each phase and how to make the most of your membership – you can reference them at any time
  • it’s risk-free! You can cancel any time.

Birth Time

Why is my Birth Time needed?

Your birth time determines the orientation – or “clock-face” – of your chart, which determines which zodiac sign rules which house. For example, with your birth time, we know if a New Moon in Pisces is activating your career, your love life, your health, etc.

How important is an accurate Birth Time?
It depends – if you find that your rising sign is in the very early or late degrees of a zodiac sign that presents a risk. The rising sign changes 1 degree every 4 minutes. (So it takes a total of 2 hours for the rising sign to change.) But if your rising sign is more in the middle of a zodiac sign, you know you have more leeway around the birth time being accurate.
What if I know my birth time within 1-2 hours?
Well, you might be in luck! You can run a quick little experiment with this information.

  • Generate your chart on astro-seek.com (click on Free Charts and then Birth Natal Chart Online Calculator) using the earliest possible birth time and scroll down to the 1st house and note what Zodiac sign the Ascendant is in. (Note: Ascendant is another term for “rising sign”.)
  • Generate your chart again using the latest possible birth time.
  • If the Ascendant remains the same for both times, you have found your rising sign.
  • If the rising sign differs, you have narrowed it down to two possibilities. Read the descriptions for both signs and ask friends and family for their perceptions to determine which one resonates more with you.
What can I do if I don’t know my Birth Time?

Well, I have good news – you have a few options!
First, do your research:

    • Request your long-form birth certificate from the hospital or local vital statistics office, as it may include your birth time.
    • Search for clues in family records like baby books, photo albums, scrapbooks, or family bibles.
    • Ask your parents, caregivers, or anyone present at your birth if they remember the approximate time of day you were born.

Second, try this online chart rectification tool. [LINK: https://astro-app.net/rectification.php?lang=en&appSize=0} This is a great (and free) place to start if you can’t find your birth time anywhere and are all out of options. “Chart Rectification” is the reconstruction of a time of birth, usually through timing important events in your life, and correlating them with hypothetical house cusps or Axis. There are very mixed reviews of this method. I recommend going through it and making a strong effort to answer the detailed questions accurately. Once you get your result, read the descriptions online for the sign and ask friends and family for their perceptions as well. If it does not at all resonate, move on to the 3rd option when you are able.

As a last resort, consider having your chart rectified by an astrologer who specializes in this technique. While not an exact science, chart rectification can help narrow down your birth time. At this time I don’t make referrals for chart rectification. Ask for referrals from your networks or online communities to find a trusted astrologer who offers this service.

Working with the Phases

Why is it important to hand write my intentions on the New Moon?

When we write things by hand we engage both our conscious mind as well as our subconscious mind. In this way, hand writing serves as a tool that not only further solidifies these intentions within the subconscious but allows the subconscious to actively work towards achieving them by reinforcing positive thoughts and beliefs. Physically writing intentions down basically “programs” your brain to align with your intentions. And if our brain can be working on our behalf without any conscious effort on our part, well, that’s pretty amazing!

Can I just type out my intentions on the New Moon?
You can, but I don’t recommend it! You’ll be losing out on all the positive benefits of engaging the subconscious mind (see Q directly above.) What Moon Chat Members are instructed to do is hand write them out and later type in the sub-bullets they want recorded for later. If you’re not yet a Moon Chat Member and would like to keep a digital record, I recommend doing the same.
Do I need to hand write on the First Quarter, Full Moon or Last Quarter?
No, it’s not as important. You can, and it’s not a bad idea if there are belief structures involved in what you are doing or noticing. But on these phases, it’s fine to simply type up notes.
What if I don’t write out my New Moon intention within 72 hours?
That’s actually totally fine. What’s most important is to write something down before the First Quarter the following week. The natural progression of the New Moon is to actually not physically write the day of the New Moon, but to spend time simply being. Simply be still and allow yourself to dream and imagine. A New Moon meditation is also great. Anything that sparks inspiration in your body and thoughts running through your head. Then, once you feel as though you’ve been inspired, write them out as the moon is waxing starting to make it’s tiny crest. As the moon becomes physically visible, that’s actually most supportive of putting pen to paper.
What if I don’t take action within 72 hours of the First Quarter?
While it’s best to act on that First Quarter, sometime within a few days prior to the First Quarter all the way up to a day or 2 prior to the Full Moon is acceptable. Also, don’t discount yourself too much, we are doing things all the time. What action did you take that was unconscious? Make sure you make note of that too!
What if I don’t notice what’s happening within 72 hours of the Full Moon?
The energy of the Full Moon is most active 2-3 days on both sides – the days leading up and the days following. If you were too occupied to really notice anything, look through your calendar, notes, camera role and emails. And if just a few days have past or it was only last week, simply sit down and jog your memory. Most of us remember the highlight reel from the previous week.
What if I don’t take action within 72 hours of the Last Quarter?
Similar to the First Quarter, while it’s best to act on that Last Quarter, sometime within a few days prior to the Last Quarter all the way up to a day or 2 prior to the next New Moon is acceptable. Also, don’t discount yourself too much, we are doing things all the time. What action did you take that was unconscious? Make sure you make note of that too!
Will the Moon Phase emails come out the same day each week?
They do not. The Moon cycles through its phases roughly every 28 days so it does not align with our monthly calendar. Moon Chat emails are sent 24-48 hours in advance so you will always know they are coming. If you’d like to know more about the timing of future emails, at the end of each email is the date of the next Moon phase. And, on page 2 of your Moon Chat Journal for the current year, you will see the dates of all the Moon phases.
